Step 1: Filling EcoTank Reservoirs & Ink Charging

Important Do Not Turn Off the Printer During Ink Charging

1. Open the ink tank unit cover on the front right of the printer.
2. Match the color bottle keys (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) to the corresponding tank slots. The bottles feature an auto-stop valve—do not squeeze the bottles.
3. Close the tank caps and power on the printer.
4. When prompted on the screen, press and hold the Help (?) or OK button for 3 seconds to initiate ink charging.
5. The power light will flash for approximately 10 minutes while internal delivery tubes are primed.

Step 2: Connecting Epson to Wi-Fi via Control Panel

  • On the printer display, tap or arrow to Settings > Network Settings > Wi-Fi Setup.
  • Choose Wi-Fi Setup Wizard. The printer will scan for surrounding wireless networks.
  • Select your 2.4GHz network name (SSID) from the discovered list.
  • Type your Wi-Fi password and press OK. The Wi-Fi icon will turn solid upon successful authentication.

Step 3: Installing the Official Epson Software Package

Visit epson.com/support, enter your model (e.g. ET-2800, ET-3850, or WF-2850), and download the Drivers and Utilities Combo Package Installer. This package includes:

  • Epson Core Print Driver
  • Epson Scan 2 utility
  • Epson Software Updater (for firmware patches)
  • Epson Event Manager (for scan-to-PC buttons)

Common Epson Troubleshooting Fixes

  • Gaps in Lines or Missing Colors: Microscopic air bubbles can become trapped in the micro-piezo printhead after initial ink charging. Run a Nozzle Check from Settings > Maintenance. If gaps appear, run a Print Head Cleaning. If banding persists after 3 cleanings, wait 12 hours for air to settle or perform a Power Cleaning.
  • Epson Error Code 0x97: A hardware or internal motherboard sensor fault caused by paper jams or voltage spikes. Power down, disconnect the power cord for 5 minutes, reconnect directly to a wall outlet, and power back on.

Frequently Asked Questions

If ink was filled but the 10-minute initial ink charging cycle was skipped, the internal ink lines remain dry. You must trigger a "Power Cleaning" or initialization sequence from the Maintenance menu to prime the internal ink tubes.
Epson Connect is Epson's cloud printing service that assigns an individual email address to your printer, allowing you to print documents remotely from any device by sending an email attachment directly to the printer.
